The Snow League - S01 E01 - Aspen Snowmass 2025

The Snow League, founded by snowboarding legend Shaun White, made a spectacular debut at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen Snowmass on March 7-8, 2025. This inaugural event showcased the world's top snowboarders competing in a reimagined halfpipe format, captivating fans and setting a new standard for the sport.

Historic Victories in the Halfpipe

Japan's Sena Tomita and Yuto Totsuka etched their names into the history books by clinching the top spots in the women's and men's snowboarding halfpipe competitions, respectively. Each athlete secured a $50,000 first-place prize and amassed 100 points, taking the lead in the Snow League World Championship standings with three events remaining in Season One.

In the women's final, Tomita faced a fierce challenge from American Maddie Mastro. The competition intensified as both athletes delivered exceptional runs, pushing each other to new heights. Tomita's final run was particularly noteworthy, featuring a massive 12-foot frontside 1080 tailgrab, a switch frontside 720, a series of 540s, and concluding with a frontside 900 melon grab and a stylish Method. This performance edged out Mastro by a mere 0.5 points, underscoring the high-caliber talent present at the event.

On the men's side, Totsuka demonstrated remarkable consistency and technical prowess throughout the competition. His performances not only earned him the top podium spot but also solidified his status as a leading figure in the snowboarding community.

Notable Australian Presence

As an Australian snowboard company, Jalapeno Board Company takes pride in highlighting the achievements of our homegrown talent. While Valentino Guseli, one of Australia's prominent snowboarders, did not compete in this event, the spirit and enthusiasm of Australian snowboarding were well-represented. Notably, Scotty James, a distinguished Australian snowboarder, recently celebrated the birth of his son, Leo Harry James, on October 10, 2024. James's illustrious career includes multiple Olympic medals and X Games golds, and his continued involvement in the sport serves as an inspiration to many.

Star-Studded Extravaganza

The event was not just about thrilling competitions; it also featured vibrant entertainment that added to the festive atmosphere. Attendees were treated to a surprise halftime performance by the dynamic duo Sofi Tukker, whose energetic set resonated with the crowd. The festivities culminated with a performance by Big Boi, ensuring that the inaugural Snow League event was as entertaining as it was competitive. The audience included celebrities such as Nina Dobrev, J Balvin, Miles and Keleigh Teller, Julianne Hough, and Pom Klementieff, adding a touch of glamour to the proceedings.
